SEKLS provides individual help or advice to member libraries as needed. Needs range from information about library board duties and membership requirements to evaluation of libraries to weeding. Each library (in the case of school districts, the high school library) will be visited once a year to keep lines of communication clear.
In the case of continuing education, library staff and trustees from member libraries are offered workshops on a variety of topics annually. Continuing education grants are available to help SEKLS librarians and trustees attend out-of-System workshops, including training and the annual the Kansas Library Conference.
